Instead of whining they could actually teach people about HA.
You seriously have never been in high end PvP.

1. No High-End PvPers ever, ever, ever use wiki, because the wiki is useless; you should know what works and what doesn't, and most should know the general composition of good builds. Most builds come from spectating.
2. Most high-end PvPers are flexible with builds, because they want you to play what you're most comfortable with, so you can win. Of course, flexible doesn't mean run a Power Block mesmer instead of E Surge Mesmer, it means "swap out Return for GOLE? yeah, whatever you're best with".
3. Most people don't want to teach you how to play, because they want to win. If you want to learn how to play, play with people who also want to learn, and spectate matches, instead of blaming the people who are substantiated in not wanting to deal with you. There are more than enough posts on how to PvP on the official site, clan forums and even this site (though you have to weed out a lot of retarded crap like "LoD is free").

Lemme guess, you played in r1+ pugs? x_x

Generalize more? But it show's how little you know about the PvP community, if not the majority of people who pvp over the world on the internet.

The OP's friend should grow thicker skin and move on.

They should leave all the handling of women to me. *nods.*

I also agree with the thicker skin comment;
New guild, new friends, play the game if you like to play, however you want to play it.
I'm new to guild wars, but not new to online gaming or the concept of pvp by ANY means, most of the people I play with I hang around with in real life. It's VERY RARE that one of them is a dick to me because they know they gotta answer for it the next time I swing by, and I know where they all live.

That pretty much sums it up in its entirety.

In defense of the 'dicks', however;

A lot of the people you'll have trouble with online DON'T in fact, know you. A lot of the time they tend to be harsh even on female players they don't know because they have no evidence to go on to say they really ARE a female opposed to someone playing a girl to get fairer treatment. They only know you in game, and they're only effected by you in game, and if they're being dragged down, or feel they're being dragged down by any means, they're bound to react. They may even see it as a 'workplace' scenario.

I'll use this example loosely because if someone takes Guild Wars as seriously as their job, there's a whole nother bag of problems.

You work with people, you don't know them outside of work, you don't go out for drinks after//before work or on days off and the person you are at work is very different from who you are outside of work. Understandable, we are ALL that way.

If someone can't cut it at work, nice enough as they may be, you're gonna get fed up with it. You're going to have conflicts, and they're going to end badly (depending on the situation.) And a lot of the time its because you'll start to feel like you're pulling all the weight around and they're not pulling theirs or even trying to lighten your burden. It's perfectly normal.

It really is a shame that your friend reacted to it in a way that she felt she had to quit playing the game all together.
To all those who are budding in 'she can't quit! that means 'he' wins!'; It's not a contest.

If any aspect of anyones life can create this much grief it's got to go. No matter how insignificant it may seem.
It could be as simple as having your coffee with milk instead of cream. The discomfort it can prevent may be life saving.

yeah i understand your friend.

no longer than yesterday i did accept monk for a friend group and his guildies.i usually neva monk since few months cause got enough of blames and insults from ppl always blaming monk for every single thing, including their own error.

they were running a spike.ofc after seveal loses cus they cudent spike a single target not even zaishens, guess who thy blamed for lose...the monk.that is me.and it was r6 r7 group its even more pathetic.

i didnt leave game, but i do promise i will neva eva again monk for anyone.

u wonder why fewer and fewr ppl refuse monk or play heal or else.
because more and more morons unable see their own mistakes have great habit blame always the same person for lose : monks....

how about ppl learn to pvp and teamwork and blame themself instead always say monks fault.

ragequit, blame monk, blame monk more, rage quit.....yeah great reasons keep play game.especially monk isnt it.

If I'd have quitted GW whenever I recieved an insult I would probably have done it more than 20 times. I'm not justifying the guy who insulted her, but she did take it a bit too seriously. At the very most she should have found a new guild.

Thats why i never like to play in PVP, no matter where there i always find that kind of jerk ''bad losers'' insulting and thinks there better than anyone, common this is just a game to have fun, not to get on rage with someone like there were losing something in real life, even in real life losing a game is not even a big reason to get on rage.
I'm not trying to ofend any of those of PVPers i'm just saying my opinion.

I have a better Idea, Mwahahahaha, stay with the guild, play as usual, everytime your friend PvP with the jerk, don't heal them. only heal others and let him die hahahahahahah >~

I never get blamed. Not because when I monk we always win - but the people I monk for understand the big picture, and know that pvp win or loss depends on maximum effort from every single member.

In other words - quitting over this is kinda pointless - it's the other person that should be "sanctioned", either by guild kick, ignore, or some other way.

But still, getting to r10 without ever experiencing hate is quite an achievement.

I think the problem is with your friends issues rather than the rest of the world, quitting anything because you cant handle an argument is pretty sad.

Here's an even better idea:

Play to win, no matter who is on your team.

I believe pretty much every Monk/Sin Build in HA is somewhere on Wiki, sure maybe those are good builds but some teams are addicted to having Wiki Builds.

I've been in HA, I quit because people demand you to run that build because everyone else does, it's like fashion, everyone has it, dies after sometime and then something new comes up and everyone has it.

That doesn't mean that the high end teams use the wiki. It just means that people slap the builds that they are running on it. There are only so many builds that are truly effective in any given PvP gametype, so they are bound to be posted somewhere; likewise, as there are only so many viable Monk builds for HA, it's not really a surprise that the bars that Monks run (or are required to run) in HA are all pretty similar to each other.

I got my first fame point with 2 guildies + another Guild, the other guild was quite experienced and knew what they were doing (probably rank 4/8) and just a few random people to fill up the empty spots.

Can we stay on topic now?

The fact that she is a girl has nothing to do with it. The guy would have been acted the same way towards her if she was a guy.

To me, that sounds like a good thing. I mean, an equality between both sexes is good from the opresser, the guy who was cursing her.

I am NOT defending the guy or anything. I don't really know the situation unless I was actually there.

Because people are over-competent and they take it way too seriously.

HA-ers have Guild Wars Egos, They think they are all that, because they have rank. PvE'ers are scrubs to them, the whole 9 yards, but then when they log off Guild Wars, they are pathetic little nerds, and the reason that they have that attitude is because they need to make themselves feel better around other people because they have issues, and they are pathetic IRL. I know high rank HA'ers who aren't this, but they also aren't pathetic sods IRL either. Nor are they as immature as the other ones. I'm sorry for your friend, maybe she'll come back later and just not hang with those people.

To the OP: I stopped doing HA some time ago for this very reason... most people take it way to seriously. Insults, blame, etc, seem to be the norm for HA, so I won't do it anymore. It takes the fun out of it and makes it almost like a job... what people seem to forget is that this is just a game. It's supposed to be fun. My advice for your friend? Tell her to find a nice PvE guild and do PvE, and maybe some RA or TA. If your friend doesn't like PvE... well, maybe she should find a new game then.
